Alexandra in Action | 2012

If you follow me on FACEBOOK, you get first dibs on sneak peeks, insider tips…and, often, ridiculous photos of me in action!  Being a wedding photographer is a physically demanding job – I have to stretch before hand (or suffer the consequences!), and relax for a day after….

Actually…I usually forget to stretch (exhibit a: sprained knee 3 times) and am often shooting weddings back-to-back. Whoops! 🙂

ANY-way, I do love my job, even though I collapse into a heap after 12 hours of it. 🙂 Being called a “ninja” while I’m working helps too!  This year I shot 34 days of weddings – that’s a lotta love going on!  What a pleasure, and what a privilege – I can’t thank my brides and grooms enough!

. . . . . . .

This is Natasha and Milo – honestly one of the cutest ringbearers EVER! Such a handsome older gentleman!

I loved how Gurjit’s bridesmaids wore white, while she wore a stunning purple lengha!

Run, forest, run!

Arggg. I be a pirate fer ma day job!

Cloudy days are nature’s softbox – what a perfect day for Kris and Katie!

Hiroko and Mike got a MONSOON for their wedding. That shot list? It was ziplocked and in an inner compartment of my waterpoof bag! It must have rained about a foot that day – and all in my gear bags! Thank goodness for waterproof gear! This lens weighs about the same as my toddler…

The SOCK BUN! Have you tried it yet? So EASY – it was my go-to hairstyle on rainy weddings this year!

What a fantastic surprise for Michelle – Brian choreographed a flash mob to perform during their reception!

I love taking epic “Tree shots” – so I get REALLY excited when I see spaces like these!

A lot of people get really excited about my ring shots…i.e. Me. I love taking them! Gotta love that sparkle! This Aritzia Paddington bear coat is the BEST for Vancouver winter weddings. The wool repels the rain, and it’s oh so comfy-warm!

“Stop everything! WAYYY too much handsome going on!”

I shot 8 weddings while I was pregnant with twins. Unfortunately, they passed away, but I still love having these images. Maternity clothes are perfect for shooting weddings in – ultra long and comfortable! 🙂

These flats served me well – but they’re almost the exact same tan shade as my skin and I’m CONVINCED they make my feet look like cartoon bare feet. 😛

Coralling a bunch of frat brothers for a group picture – could be difficult – but I go way back with these boys… I even married one of them! 🙂Sometimes I wish I wore adorable skirts and high heels when I shoot – like certain Californian photogs …but raining-constantly -Vancouver? Yeah. So not going to happen. 😉

I am so lucky to have my father shoot with me at most of my weddings. He’s really talented…and a HIT with the ladies! 😉

At Muslim or Sikh weddings, it’s required to dress modestly and cover your head – this year my brides took turn draping me! 🙂
