THOUGHTS FOR TODAY: Simple + white OR Fun + colour?
Why do you have to choose? At Alexandra Hunt Photography, I love being able to customize sessions to suit clients’ tastes. If you want all simple, I CAN do that, but if you love colour, or maybe you fell in love with one of our animal hats, or daddy plays a sport, or you have a nursery theme you’d like to match…well, I can do that as well!

I sometimes see people talking about newborn photography as being one style allowed, this goes for advertising too – putting down the photographers who do anything beyond pure and simple, plain and white. As if using colour, or putting flowers around your baby for ONE photo, is “wrong.’ I don’t get that, honestly. Colour is all around us. Nature is full of it!

Yes, I DO CLASSIC SETUPS AT EVERY SESSION because I do feel it makes for a well-rounded gallery, but if my clients enter the prop closet (cave of wonder) and come out with arms full of colourful goodies, who am I to boss them? It’s THEIR photos, their walls, their memories. Doing a couple of extra-special setups that will make them go “awwwwwwwww” is FUN. I LOVE it, and they do too!
My first concern is always baby’s safety and comfort (which is why I often shoot setups in multiple shots and bring them together in photoshop), but my clients get the flexibility to choose the pieces and colours that reflect their tastes and desires. HAVE YOUR CAKE…AND EAT IT TOO.
