Givo and Shezana celebrated their marriage over the course of a week. On day one, their friends and family joined them at the Vandusen Gardens building for a mixed Kurdish-Bengali pre-wedding ceremony. Lots of dancing, food and unique blended traditions punctuated the beginning of their lives together.
Shhhh! Bride in hiding! No peeking! 🙂Loved the vibrant colours of the event!
We snuck outside for a couple of quick, traditional portraits…
This is as close to a Western bridal party as Muslim weddings get, I was told.
After the Kurdish ceremony, Shezana changed into a Bengali Indian outfit.
Isn’t she lovely?
Givo and Shezana’s friends and families took turns applying tumeric powder to their hands and fed them sweets and fruit.
The evening was capped off by some wonderful dance performance.
